About Our Unit
The department is the largest in the East of England, and one of the largest in the UK. We support a full range of specialist and general clinical services for our 600,000 strong population, and a local diabetes population of approximately 42,000 people.
Endocrinology is the medical specialty that deals with hormone and glandular disorders, covering a huge spectrum of disorders. It is usually divided broadly into two sections: diabetes and the rest of endocrinology. Endocrinology disorders treated at our Unit include Thyroid, Pituitary, Adrenal and Calcium and Bone Disorders.
For patients being treated for Types 1 and 2 Diabetes, and pregnancy-related diabetes, we run a variety of clinics including preconception care, intensive treatment and clinical psychology.
