About Our Unit

We have some exciting developments taking place on our dedicated Respiratory Ward, Hethel Ward, as we continue to grow our Acute Respiratory Service. We are in the process of implementing two 6 bedded ARC bays – one male, and one female – to care for up to 12 patients on non-invasive ventilation (NIV). We are also developing the offer of opti-flow and tracheostomy care.

We cover a broad remit of patient conditions, and so the department is broken down into sub-specialties, with dedicated staff caring for patients with conditions including:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Domiciliary Oxygen Therapy
  • Interstitial Lung Disease (pulmonary fibrosis)
  • Lung Cancer
  • Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV)
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Sleep Medicine, Domiciliary CPAP
  • Tuberculosis
